My Mother's Day gift for mom

This is what I made for my mom this Mother's Day!

Every year I like to make her something and this year

it was this ring. I hand painted it in her favorite colors!

Here are some basic directions to make your own:

So what I did was get a vintage earring

and take the clip on part off. Then you gently clean the

earring and let dry. Pick some acrylic paint colors you want to use.

(I only used 2 colors based off the flower design.)

I then mixed equal parts paint and Mod Podge (I'm sure you can use

a similar crafters glue if you want. This is just what I had on hand).

Dab the paint/glue mixture onto the parts of the earring or metal

you want to paint. Some areas may need extra mixture applied

and that's ok. Let dry.

Gently file the raised edges for a vintage-y look (I used

a nail file). Seal with a clear spray gloss. Let dry.

Add to your ring blank as necessary.

And it's that easy to make your vintage inspired ring!

Spring Eternal

Here in Cali it already feels like the beginning of Spring...

so these pics definitely go with the nice weather.

The pic above is a one-of-a-kind bracelet made with a

vintage leaf bead. (The leaf is a 'new/uncirculated' vintage bead.)

The chain consists of metal beads and a crystal rondelle with

some raspberry color beads to finish off this bracelet.

PS...the clasp is hidden behind the big leaf!

Now available on my site!

Stay tuned for my next 'Thinking of Spring' jewelry post!

Mother's Day Necklace {What I created - Part 1 of 3}

This necklace was made for my mom.
She loves green - so I knew I had to incorporate green into the design.
I used 2 olivine Swarovski crystal elements.

I've had this little vintage locket - that I embellished with some
vintage text showing the word 'mother' - for a while now.
There's also a hint of glitter. :)

I've had these 'Vintaj' (brand) angel wings for a while now too
and have been waiting for the perfect time to use them!

My mom received the left side angel wing pendant and I made a
 necklace for myself with the corresponding right side angel wing.

 She loved it!

Perfect for the 4th of July {earrings}

I created these earrings a while back. And have been waiting till it got closer to July to post about them. As usual, things got busy and I almost forgot about these cuties.

UPDATE: Sold!
Re-posting for 4th of July earring inspiration!
"Freedom"
...featuring Vintaj (brand) birds & vintage red/white/blue beads

"Freedom" earrings

These earrings where challenging to make! I almost gave up several times but they ended up just like I envisioned them. I haven't decided if I will make another pair to keep...I do have enough to make one more pair, so we will see!

Summer 2013 {Jewelry Stringing}

August Sunshine
These are the earrings that can be found in the current issue of Jewelry Stringing (on news stands now). I believe they are #18 in the earring gallery.

I used stringing wire to 'sew' the vintage piece of an old earring onto the brass filigree. Adding bicone Swarovski crystals around the whole earring in alternating shades of yellow, topaz and amber.

Giving thanks!

Earrings all lined up!

Cute owl cards

These cute little matching earrings are all ready to be given out on Thanksgiving Day! They were made using some left over 'cup of bead soup' beads donated by Crystal of 'Bead Happily Ever After' that I didn't get a chance to use. See a few posts back to see what I created with Crystal's cool vintage beads!

The black and gold beads are vintage (from Crystal's shop) and the crystals are from Fire Mountain Gems. The cute owl earring cards I found on etsy (my secret for now until I write up a special tag/packaging post soon).

I wanted to use harvest tones for the crystals but the blue looked so good I had to include it too. I'm going to have to make more to give out all weekend to any visitors that come by! My way of 'giving thanks' to those family and friends for putting up with me all year. ;)

Cup of Bead Soup Reveal! {Bead Happily Ever After}

'Red Hot' earrings

I made two sets of earring & necklace combos with my cup of bead soup stash. At this time, that's an accomplishment in itself! Just not enough hours in the day recently. {When I get more stuff created using the remainder of these beads I'll be sure to post!---Also, sorry about the pics not being the greatest. Had to use my phone this time around.}

Here's the first combo made...

---#1 Set---

The pic above shows the earrings I made (by now you probably know that I gravitate towards earrings) using the vintage red beads from the cup of bead soup. The small swarovski pearl beads in black and gold are set on each side along with a crystal rondelle from my collection.

The pic below shows another red bead from the cup of soup...

'Red Hot' necklace

'Red Hot' combo
My take on a tassel necklace.
On display!

This necklace looks even better in person against black clothing! I love the long length of it and the small red vintage bead is still the star of the show (in my opinion). I am tending towards simple with just a touch of bling with the rhinestone chain and the crystal rondelle. Black & brass chain and a black/gold bead, all from my stash finish off this design.

I hope you enjoyed this first set of jewelry...it was fun wearing it around the house trying it on for size! ;)

                                                                         ---#2 Set---

What a retro vibe! When I saw the 2 same sized light blue beads from the cup of bead soup, I knew I had to make earrings. (No surprise there right?!) But, then the 2 goldish knot beads caught my eye and I knew I had to pair them together. Very 80's!

'Retro' earrings

 Another long necklace.

 Matching large blue bead makes a statement!

 On display!

Another long necklace was created using the matching large blue bead from the cup of bead soup. Then, I saw the antiqued gold rose bead and everything flowed from there! The dark round bead with gold etching was perfect for this style necklace. I can drop the blue pendant bead straight through the round bead and adjust this necklace as needed. Chain from my collection, with matching blue beads rounded out this design.

I also modeled this necklace around the house and really loved how it looked against black. I'm sure it would look great against white too! Don't know yet if I can part with this one. ;)

Thank you Lori for hosting this fun little cup of bead soup! And a big thank you to Bead Happily Ever After for the beautiful vintage beads you provided for us to play with and create!

As seen in 101 BNE magazine {Part 1}

vintage acorn earrings
I wanted to share with you some of my pics of my 'vintage acorn' earrings that are featured in the current issue of 101 Bracelets, Necklaces, and Earrings. My project can be found on page 59 in the Earthy Browns section. There you will find all of the project information needed to recreate these cute little earrings for yourself or to give as a gift. They would also transition into the Fall season nicely.

Here's an outfit that I would pair with these earrings. It has both a vintage and earthy brown vibe!

Enjoy,

-Roxi

As seen in Bead Trends magazine!

Photobucket
{As seen in Bead Trends April 2012}
These earrings were recently featured in the April issue of Bead Trends magazine. Their photography is always spectacular! Bead Trends featured these earrings on 2 pages which I was excited to see. {The above photo is mine.} But, for a closer look here's a snippet of the 2 pages {below}...for an even closer look be sure to pick up a copy at any book store or for a digital copy go here!

Photobucket

I used vintage floral cabs as the focals and picked some Swarovski crystals to match. For materials used please refer to the April issue of Bead Trends.

Thank you Bead Trends for featuring my designs in your publication,

Foiled Again {Rings}

{Blue and Orange - Perfect summer combo!} Pin It

I will be adding these fun rings to my etsy shop this week!
They are a very limited edition design for me.
The focal is a rare, vintage, Japanese Foil Cabochon.

{Foiled Again - Rings} Pin It

The Blue ring is set in a brass adjustable ring setting.
The Orange ring is set in an antiqued copper ring setting.
Click here to visit my etsy shop.

Color Inspiration:

Blue & Orange color(s) complement each other.
I just happened to buy these beads together from my supplier and didn't realize, at the time, why I was attracted to the two colors! Below, is a color swatch I found at Design Seeds.

What are your favorite colors to wear?
If you design jewelry, what colors do you like to create with the most?
Have a wonderful week,

Heart of Gold

{heart of gold earrings}

By now, you must know how much I love discovering vintage uncirculated beads! These hearts are vintage lucite heart etched beads.

I paired the vintage beads with a topaz color swarovski crystal. This pair is sold but I do have a limited amount available for purchase. Leave me a comment here if interested. This will probably be the last of the 'heart' themed earrings I will blog about before Valentine's day.

ps...aren't these the cutest cupcakes!
