Bead Hoarders Blog Hop {2nd Annual}

http://www.prettythingsblog.com/2014/11/welcome-to-2nd-annual-bead-hoarders.html
It's reveal time!

This is a portion of the hoard (above). I purchased a graduated set of Dalmatian Jasper beads when I first started making jewelry. I remember getting these on eBay about 7 or 8 years ago!

I never used them because I didn't know how to showcase them properly. But, knew they were meant to be in a necklace. When I first started out making jewelry I was only creating bracelets. So, the Dalmatian Jasper sat and sat.

I don't know if I hoarded the Dalmatian Jasper because I liked them so much or because they were expensive or because I simply didn't have a design in mind. Then one day I knew it was time for them to see the light of day...

"Stonehenge"

I created "Stonehenge" using the hoard! I always like to incorporate vintage beads (the black bead link chain) into my designs. There's a lot of stringing involved in this piece (at least for me). I've been working hard since last year on my necklace designs since necklaces have always intimidated me. I hope you enjoy what I created. :)

PS...if you get a chance to do a web search on Dalmatian Jasper you will see the healing properties associated with the stone. It's very interesting!

Halloween Design Inspiration {Jewelry - Part 2}

Skulls & Chains
This is the necklace I created using the skulls from my previous post.
I had submitted this to a mag but it didn't get picked up. That's ok,
because now I can wear it on Halloween. I'm liking the glam goth/
glam rock look!

Skulls & Chains
Close up view of the little skull. (left)
I wrapped each skull head with
some wire and attached them to the necklace.

I wanted to make matching wrapped skull head earrings
but haven't got around to that yet. ;)

But this coral pair was created yesterday...
(below)

Mr. & Mrs. ---SOLD!---

I haven't decided if they are going to be earrings or not.
I had the little black ribbon flower and it looked like a hat
so one of the skulls got the hat. Then I thought they looked like
a cute pair. So I named them Mr. & Mrs.!

They are ready to become earrings (just need to add the ear hooks).
Or, they can be a focal on a necklace or bracelet. They are
on the bigger side. (see the previous post link to visit the etsy
shop where I purchased them).

Hope you enjoyed this Halloween themed post!

Jewelry Stringing Winter 2014

"Fancy" earrings
These are the earrings shown in the most recent Jewelry Stringing
I love how they sparkle and how they look on! Simply Fancy!

The cover is gorgeous.
I received my copy yesterday but need to sit down with it for awhile. Get inspired this holiday season and dazzle your family & friends with some handmade gifts this year.

PS...I will have a limited amount of these earrings available! The main focal bead is a vintage find. Let me know if Santa needs a little help filling those stockings!

My earring project in 101BNE 2013

 photo IMG_2067_zpsb3080a31.jpg

These earrings can be seen in 101 Bracelets, Necklaces and Earrings 2013!

They are called 'Vintage Garden' (page 71).

These earrings are very special to me because they were created in memory of my grandmother. I have many memories being with her in her yard tending to her flowers. I know she would be proud of me if she were still here on earth. My Grandma Champion will always be an inspiration to me. :)

I'm honored to be included in this once a year issue...

Check out the beautiful necklace on the cover!
Erin of Tesori Trovati designed the necklace and even created the bird pendant!
Visit Erin's etsy shop to create your own bird inspired necklace.

Have a great rest of the summer and enjoy creating!
