Another first!

Here's a collage of my first published bracelet! It's in Bead-it Today.
The August issue is out now.

I love using vintage pieces in my designs. The bracelet above features a vintage Weiss brooch. This brooch was given to me but you can find similar ones online or at estate sales.

Tip: Make sure you always look at the back of the brooch if you are looking for a signed Weiss brooch. Here's a website with advise on how to spot fakes! http://vintagecostumejewels.com/Info/How_to_Spot_Fake_Weiss_Jewelry.htm

Here's some I found that you can use to create your own 'vintage brooch' bracelet!
Design Tip: Don't cut off the pin part of the brooch if its a real Weiss brooch. Keep the integrity of it so you can wear it again as a brooch at a later time.

My earring project in 101BNE 2013

 photo IMG_2067_zpsb3080a31.jpg

These earrings can be seen in 101 Bracelets, Necklaces and Earrings 2013!

They are called 'Vintage Garden' (page 71).

These earrings are very special to me because they were created in memory of my grandmother. I have many memories being with her in her yard tending to her flowers. I know she would be proud of me if she were still here on earth. My Grandma Champion will always be an inspiration to me. :)

I'm honored to be included in this once a year issue...

Check out the beautiful necklace on the cover!
Erin of Tesori Trovati designed the necklace and even created the bird pendant!
Visit Erin's etsy shop to create your own bird inspired necklace.

Have a great rest of the summer and enjoy creating!

Misc...

Hi there! Sorry I've been away for a while. Things look busy until next year too! Learning to enjoy life...because its too short.

The above pic is a little something my giveaway winner received recently. It shipped all the way to Australia! So exciting!

Check back here on Sat. Nov10th for my 'Cup of Bead Soup' post! I wish I had more time to create more stuff with all the beads given but time was not on my side. Why does it seem there is less time as we get older? Time does fly by too fast. Remember to stop and enjoy those precious moments with loved ones!

As seen in 101 BNE magazine {Part 2}

'Bubbly Rose Earrings'

These earrings are the second project that is featured in 101 Bracelets, Necklaces and Earrings 2012. You can find this project on page 35. Let me know if it inspires you!

 I am way behind on blog posts, my upcoming giveaway, and anything else jewelry related. Things have been very busy but I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. (ps...I just love how this pic turned out...it feels calm and peaceful to me.)

Published designs in Stringing {Summer}

Have you seen the Summer edition of Jewelry Stringing? It is jam packed with lots of inspiration to carry you through the summer months happily creating your own jewelry. I am honored to have 2 earring designs in this issue!

#4...As shown on page 58.
I had the best time creating these {above} earrings! I created my own faux patina on the top rose beads. (You can find these beads at my etsy shop.) Orange and Turquoise is always a pretty summer combination. I can picture these earrings paired with a white sun dress!

#2...As shown on page 58.
The earrings above are called 'Calm Seas.' The were inspired by the beach and the serenity of just being close to nature. I like to use vintage beads in my designs. I typically use uncirculated vintage beads in my designs and love mixing old and new elements together!  To find out which beads are vintage, and not as hard to find as you may think, pick up a copy of the summer issue of Stringing on newstands now.

Playing with photo effects and jewelry

I've been wanting to post all week and show you my earrings that are in the current issue of Stringing Magazine! {shown below}

The earrings are created with raw brass hammered disks, and pretty green picasso czech glass beads. When I created these spring inspired earrings I didn't have a specific design in mind!

{my original photo} Pin It

I knew I was going to use the brass hammered disks to mimic the sun.

{lighter washed-out look} Pin It

And then, since these earrings are for the spring season, I decided to pair the disks with green beads.

{brighter, intense look} Pin It

These beads, in different variations of greens and teals, complemented the brass disks perfectly! Then I topped them off with a smaller bronze bead. Sometimes, designs flow easily and come together just the way you had hoped!

ps...Thank you Stringing for showcasing these earrings in your spring issue!

Photos and beads

Photobucket
{'Paint the Town Red' earrings}

Recently, I was playing around with my photo {above} of my 'paint the town red' earrings. I really like the way the pic turned out. If you are a reader of my blog you will recognize that these earrings were recently published in the Jan. '12 issue of Bead Trends magazine.

These earrings are so easy to make! Just pick up the issue of Bead Trends for step by step instructions. If you have any questions or need any beading help just let me know. :)

Rose bead resource:
{vintage brass rose beads}
found at: Vintage Baubles

You can add a small 4mm Swarovski crystal bead in the center of these beads like I did! Then a pretty teardrop bead of your choice will finish off this look.
