♥ Heart Earrings ♥

Since tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday I'm posting today.

I updated this published (in Stringing 2011) design by

changing the crystal color and doing a little wire wrap.

I'm loving the very pink crystal and only have enough hearts

to do 4 pairs of this design. So contact me if you want a pair!

{$20. each}

I'm only taking the first 4 people who contact me.

I can also do a pale pink crystal if desired.

Enjoy your weekend!

♥ Hearts ♥ Arriving Feb. 1st!

Photobucket

I'm getting in the mood to make heart earrings again! Remember these? (above)

This design was published in Jewelry Stringing and was actually my first

design published with them!

Photobucket
Published design in Jewelry Stringing.

I plan on doing these but with other a different crystal color.

I'm thinking of doing a variety of earrings
with crystal colors ranging from pinks
to a deeper Marsala color.

Stay tuned!

PS...I am also thinking about making some limited edition kits
w/ basic instructions for your own jewelry making!

***These kits would be for your personal use and not for resale.***

Makeover: The Cory Necklace

Before: The Cory Necklace
This is the second makeover project I have worked on. (The first was 'The Steph Necklace'...see past post.) My sister, Cory, gave me this necklace to fix for her. One end of it had come apart. But, since I had this necklace so long (she actually forgot I had it!), I decided it was ready for a change.

After: 2 pairs of earrings...
I created 2 pairs of earrings first. She loves earrings and I only wanted to use the beads from the necklace so she could see the transformation. I grouped the beads together that I wanted to use for each pair and wire wrapped some of them.

And a bookmark!

But, I had a few random beads left that I didn't know what to do with. So, I created a little bookmark using a headpin and some ribbon. Very easy to make...think I need to make myself some with left over beads! My sister loved her old new jewelry. Stay tuned for my next makeover project coming soon!

As seen in Jewelry Stringing {Winter 2012}

'Copper Squared' in winter 2012 Jewelry Stringing

First, I would like to thank Jewelry Stringing for for allowing me to share my designs in their publications over the last year. It is truely an honor! Their magazine sparked my jewelry making creativity over 9 years ago.

Roxi Designs began in 1999 while creating art cards and note cards. {Here's an old interview I found online.} Then, one day the jewelry bug hit (around 9 years ago) and lots of hard work and perserverance started paying off! I enjoy designing and inspiring others to create...can't wait to see what 2013 brings!

ps...the earrings are limited edition and available for $22. a pair. The copper squares are vintage uncirculated beads. Wire wrapped w/ olivine bicones and rhinestone rondelles accented.

Giving thanks!

Earrings all lined up!

Cute owl cards

These cute little matching earrings are all ready to be given out on Thanksgiving Day! They were made using some left over 'cup of bead soup' beads donated by Crystal of 'Bead Happily Ever After' that I didn't get a chance to use. See a few posts back to see what I created with Crystal's cool vintage beads!

The black and gold beads are vintage (from Crystal's shop) and the crystals are from Fire Mountain Gems. The cute owl earring cards I found on etsy (my secret for now until I write up a special tag/packaging post soon).

I wanted to use harvest tones for the crystals but the blue looked so good I had to include it too. I'm going to have to make more to give out all weekend to any visitors that come by! My way of 'giving thanks' to those family and friends for putting up with me all year. ;)

Cup of Bead Soup Reveal! {Bead Happily Ever After}

'Red Hot' earrings

I made two sets of earring & necklace combos with my cup of bead soup stash. At this time, that's an accomplishment in itself! Just not enough hours in the day recently. {When I get more stuff created using the remainder of these beads I'll be sure to post!---Also, sorry about the pics not being the greatest. Had to use my phone this time around.}

Here's the first combo made...

---#1 Set---

The pic above shows the earrings I made (by now you probably know that I gravitate towards earrings) using the vintage red beads from the cup of bead soup. The small swarovski pearl beads in black and gold are set on each side along with a crystal rondelle from my collection.

The pic below shows another red bead from the cup of soup...

'Red Hot' necklace

'Red Hot' combo
My take on a tassel necklace.
On display!

This necklace looks even better in person against black clothing! I love the long length of it and the small red vintage bead is still the star of the show (in my opinion). I am tending towards simple with just a touch of bling with the rhinestone chain and the crystal rondelle. Black & brass chain and a black/gold bead, all from my stash finish off this design.

I hope you enjoyed this first set of jewelry...it was fun wearing it around the house trying it on for size! ;)

                                                                         ---#2 Set---

What a retro vibe! When I saw the 2 same sized light blue beads from the cup of bead soup, I knew I had to make earrings. (No surprise there right?!) But, then the 2 goldish knot beads caught my eye and I knew I had to pair them together. Very 80's!

'Retro' earrings

 Another long necklace.

 Matching large blue bead makes a statement!

 On display!

Another long necklace was created using the matching large blue bead from the cup of bead soup. Then, I saw the antiqued gold rose bead and everything flowed from there! The dark round bead with gold etching was perfect for this style necklace. I can drop the blue pendant bead straight through the round bead and adjust this necklace as needed. Chain from my collection, with matching blue beads rounded out this design.

I also modeled this necklace around the house and really loved how it looked against black. I'm sure it would look great against white too! Don't know yet if I can part with this one. ;)

Thank you Lori for hosting this fun little cup of bead soup! And a big thank you to Bead Happily Ever After for the beautiful vintage beads you provided for us to play with and create!

As seen in Jewelry Stringing {Fall 2012}

"Honey Flower"

Vintaj earwires, Arte Bella Surplus honey opal beads (etsy), Yummy Treasures rhinestone bead caps (etsy).
 I used the rhinestone bead caps as the 'flower' part of this design. I had no idea I was going to make this design...until I started playing with the beads. Love it when that happens!

"Amber Waves"

Vintaj earwire, Blue Marble Beads vintage amber oval swirls (etsy), MK Supplies fruit salad rounds (etsy).
This design was planned, unlike the first pair of earrings. I sketched out my design and luckily it turned out exactly like I had envisioned. I love how the row of beads follows the twists in the amber beads!

If you haven't had a chance yet, pick up the Fall issue of Stringing. It is jam packed with inspiring Fall designs! And, if you are interested in my desings they are located in the Earring Section. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

Thank you Stringing!

Going, going, gone {Part 2}

-"The long & the short of it" summer earrings-
I put these earrings up for sale on my facebook page the other day and 'the long' earrings found a new home in less than 24 hours! I just love when that happens. Because, #1...it makes me feel good knowing my family, friends, and those I've meet on facebook and the internet like my work and have to have it.

And, #2...it fuels me to keep going. To keep creating. To keep doing what I love to do.

ps...'the short' earrings {bottom row in pic above} are still available. I will be adding them to my web site shortly. Update: here's the link to find them, http://www.roxidesigns.com/published_designs.html

Going, going, gone {Part 1}

Inspiration: {Morocco, Blue}

Inspiration photos found at Pinterest.

The images above capture perfectly the "Moroccan Blue" color and feel I was trying to create in these earrings...

One-of-a-kind

I really like how they turned out...and so did someone else! Happy they found their way to their new owner via my facebook page. They sold in less than 24 hrs...love when that happens.
