Good bye Summer! Thanks for the memories...

I hope everyone had a great summer! We have done a lot

of traveling this summer and had lots of fun with family

and friends. But, now with summer coming to a close

it's time to get back to my normal routine. :)

In order to get back to creating I will need to get that office

into shape (but that's a whole other post).

One of my favorite designers, Miss Erin,

is in the process of organizing her office...check out her blog for

inspiration on getting your space organized!

Cleo's Jewels

During a road trip to Avila Beach, CA this summer

I got to catch up with my issue of Create Jewelry!

PS...The cover necklace is amazing!!!

And created by another one of my favorite designers, Erin Siegel.

If you haven't checked out this once a year issue---you should!

My Mother's Day gift for mom

This is what I made for my mom this Mother's Day!

Every year I like to make her something and this year

it was this ring. I hand painted it in her favorite colors!

Here are some basic directions to make your own:

So what I did was get a vintage earring

and take the clip on part off. Then you gently clean the

earring and let dry. Pick some acrylic paint colors you want to use.

(I only used 2 colors based off the flower design.)

I then mixed equal parts paint and Mod Podge (I'm sure you can use

a similar crafters glue if you want. This is just what I had on hand).

Dab the paint/glue mixture onto the parts of the earring or metal

you want to paint. Some areas may need extra mixture applied

and that's ok. Let dry.

Gently file the raised edges for a vintage-y look (I used

a nail file). Seal with a clear spray gloss. Let dry.

Add to your ring blank as necessary.

And it's that easy to make your vintage inspired ring!

These pendants are hand painted by me. I'm still deciding

how to use them. I can turn them into rings or use them

in a bracelet or necklace. Too many options!

Edited 5/13/15: These are now available at my Etsy shop!

Top left: Little Bird; Middle Left: Cherry Blossom on Teal background;
Middle Right: Lavender color Blossom on Pink background;
Bottom: Cherry Blossom on Mint Green background.

I'm also open to selling them as is. If you are interested let me know!

Or, if you want to reserve one for a custom piece of jewelry

that you want me to create for you, just let me know.

Garden Party Necklace & Bracelet

My "Garden Party" necklace and bracelet can be found

in the current issue of Jewelry Stringing magazine -Spring 2015.

Here's a close up of the necklace.

It's a long style necklace that doesn't need a clasp.

There's lots of ribbon, brass, and spring-time elements!

I also created a matching bracelet.

I used some vintage beads in both of these pieces...

can you tell which are vintage?

Spring is here!

"Berries"

So happy that Spring is officially here! I love this time of year...

minus the allergies.

As I was about to post this pic of one of my favorite necklaces

someone purchased it. That someone is my sister so at least I

can still borrow it. ;)

About the necklace:

The yellow chevron piece is vintage.
The blue fabric is from a favorite sundress.
And the flowers/berries clusters adds that final touch.

Happy Spring,

Thinking of Spring

Spring Eternal

Here in Cali it already feels like the beginning of Spring...

so these pics definitely go with the nice weather.

The pic above is a one-of-a-kind bracelet made with a

vintage leaf bead. (The leaf is a 'new/uncirculated' vintage bead.)

The chain consists of metal beads and a crystal rondelle with

some raspberry color beads to finish off this bracelet.

PS...the clasp is hidden behind the big leaf!

Now available on my site!

Stay tuned for my next 'Thinking of Spring' jewelry post!

♥ Heart Earrings ♥

Since tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday I'm posting today.

I updated this published (in Stringing 2011) design by

changing the crystal color and doing a little wire wrap.

I'm loving the very pink crystal and only have enough hearts

to do 4 pairs of this design. So contact me if you want a pair!

{$20. each}

I'm only taking the first 4 people who contact me.

I can also do a pale pink crystal if desired.

Enjoy your weekend!

♥ Hearts ♥ Arriving Feb. 1st!

Photobucket

I'm getting in the mood to make heart earrings again! Remember these? (above)

This design was published in Jewelry Stringing and was actually my first

design published with them!

Photobucket
Published design in Jewelry Stringing.

I plan on doing these but with other a different crystal color.

I'm thinking of doing a variety of earrings
with crystal colors ranging from pinks
to a deeper Marsala color.

Stay tuned!

PS...I am also thinking about making some limited edition kits
w/ basic instructions for your own jewelry making!

***These kits would be for your personal use and not for resale.***

Marsala...maybe?

PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2015-marsala and mauve purple wedding color palettes
Image found on Pinterest via:
http://www.elegantweddinginvites.com/pantone-color-of-the-year-2015-marsala-wedding-color-schemes/#

By now you have heard about Pantone's color of the year for 2015.
If not, it's Marsala. A redish-brown color. And its all over Pinterest.

Once, you start looking for it you will see a ton of color pairing ideas
(on Pinterest). There are some that already dislike the color choice and
while I'm not totally sure if I'm in love with it...I think I like it...maybe.

What I like most is the muted color variations that can be paired with it.
(See above)
The wedding color scheme I found can be inspiration for tons of jewelry ideas.

Here are some beads I found (some I've already purchased) from one of my
favorite Etsy shop owners. Karen at ArteBellaSurplus is a joy to work with
and always has the best selection of Czech glass beads around!

CHESTNUT PANSIES .. 4 NEW Premium Picasso Czech Glass Flower Beads 14-15mm (4198-4)
Image found on Etsy via:

Can you tell I'm ready for Spring? Love the Pansies...and
Karen has other colors to choose from! I've already ordered the Plumeria Pansies
and can't wait to create something Spring-y.

Here are my favorite beads, so far, designing around the color Marsala!
Some, I've already ordered as well. ;)

GOLDEN ROSE .. 10 Picasso Czech Faceted Glass Beads 6x8mm (3916-10)

After discovering all the design color possibilities using the color Marsala...
I think my 'maybe' is definitely a Yes!

Do you have any plans to design using this color? If so, what colors will you pair with Marsala?
