Going, going, gone {Part 2}

-"The long & the short of it" summer earrings-

I put these earrings up for sale on my facebook page the other day and 'the long' earrings found a new home in less than 24 hours! I just love when that happens. Because, #1...it makes me feel good knowing my family, friends, and those I've meet on facebook and the internet like my work and have to have it.

And, #2...it fuels me to keep going. To keep creating. To keep doing what I love to do.

One-of-a-kind

I really like how they turned out...and so did someone else! Happy they found their way to their new owner via my facebook page. They sold in less than 24 hrs...love when that happens.

101 Bracelets, Necklaces, and Earrings 2012

I'm so excited for this special issue of 101 Bracelets, Necklaces, and Earrings 2012 to hit the stands! (It's also already available in digital format here.) I'm excited because I have 2 earring designs that were chosen for this once a year publication by the editors of Beadwork & Jewelry Stringing magazines. My projects are listed in the credits under #33 the Blushing Pinks category & # 57 the Earthy Browns category.

A big thank you to everyone at 101 Bracelets, Necklaces, and Earrings 2012 for asking me to contribute my designs for this special issue! This has been a great year so far for me starting with my first published designs back in Dec., contributing to Jewelry Stringing, and now this issue. I will be back soon with some pics once the issue hits the newstands!

Bella Bead Jewelry {Hearts for Hannah}

Makeover: The Steph Necklace

A friend of mine {Steph} gave me the necklace above to fix for her. The wire at the clasp was worn and needing repair. I'm embarassed to say I have had this necklace for a long time...let's just leave it at that! Also, these pics aren't my best pics but I was determined to get something taken to show you.

As you can see the necklace above was a heavy, chunky style which is fine and I had no intention of changing it. But once I took it apart it had a mind of its own! And since I had it so long I knew she wouldn't mind me changing the look of it. So, I decided to group the similar beads together, add chain, and add a focal.

After grouping the similar beads together the necklace needed something...a seperation with a focal bead. I didn't want the focal bead to really be the focus but more of a seperator inbetween the bead groupings. But, I wanted everything to still flow well together. I like that this necklace looks asymetrical and is long so no clasp is needed!

After pic...I even had extra beads to make matching earrings!

However, it doesn't have to be worn asymetrical and has a nice long chain. This necklace fits easily over the head because it's long. Who doesn't love quick & easy? Not to mention the matching earrings made this fun makeover project complete! And, I'm glad Steph loved it!

Published designs in Stringing {Summer}

Have you seen the Summer edition of Jewelry Stringing? It is jam packed with lots of inspiration to carry you through the summer months happily creating your own jewelry. I am honored to have 2 earring designs in this issue!

I had the best time creating these {above} earrings! I created my own faux patina on the top rose beads. (You can find these beads at my etsy shop.) Orange and Turquoise is always a pretty summer combination. I can picture these earrings paired with a white sun dress!

The earrings above are called 'Calm Seas.' The were inspired by the beach and the serenity of just being close to nature. I like to use vintage beads in my designs. I typically use uncirculated vintage beads in my designs and love mixing old and new elements together!  To find out which beads are vintage, and not as hard to find as you may think, pick up a copy of the summer issue of Stringing on newstands now.

Customer's love the packaging as much as the gift itself! I try to make every order special. And enjoy finding the perfect tags and color coordinate the jewelry bags to the jewelry item being purchased. I thought I would share some of my resources because it's always better to give than receive!

There are alot of great shops and sellers on etsy.com. When I found these cute tags they were not in the size I needed. I contacted the seller, Green Acres Cottage, and she was more than happy to create a smaller version for me. Don't be afraid to ask...most etsy sellers love custom orders!

{muslin jewelry bags}

Simply Cute Stuff has these diy muslin mini bags! These can be embellished in many different ways including rubber stamping which is popular right now. I just used a stencil to create the letter initial with a fabric marker. Then, I added glitter and a fabric flower.
