7TH Do Over Challenge

This is the first challenge of the year that I have had time to participate in....

This is what Jeannie sent me...

A pretty and colorful bracelet with a hanging charm (shown above).

When I opened the package from Jeannie I thought the bracelet was cute already!
I was truly stumped with which direction to go? I could take apart every hand applied crystal from the chain, but then what? Because I really liked the charm bracelet look I thought about saving that piece and incorporating it into a necklace.

But first, I took off the round watercolor looking pendant and carefully cut off the loop. After realizing it needed to be a focal point I decided to turn it into a Ring!

But, my second problem was actually making the ring. I felt it needed to rest on top of something to stand out more! So I grabbed a brass washer from my stash that I keep for jewelry making.

I applied a layer of blue-green paint and let dry. Then, using a rubber stamp I stamped 2 layers of a brown-gold color paint and let dry between each layer. Tip: dab off excess paint immediately after stamping. Once dry, spray a couple layers of clear coat onto the washer and let dry.

Lastly, I glued the pendant onto the washer and glued a ring back behind the pendant (it fit perfectly through the washer hole). Hope you like the Ring! It was fun to make and figure out the design.

Now for the Necklace...

Now do you see why I couldn't make myself take apart that cute and colorful bracelet!

I had the perfect chain from Joann Art & Fabric Store to add to this and create a necklace. The brass in my chain matched perfectly to the bracelet chain! And I loved how the necklace came together so effortlessly. It really felt like it was meant to become a Spring or Summer necklace...I hope you think so too!

Here's another pic showing an asymmetrical look as well.

Thanks for visiting and be sure to continue the blog hop and see what the other participants created.

Thank you Jeannie for hosting this challenge and I can't wait till the next one!
