Anklet Blog Hop {June 1st, 2013}

I met Kashmira randomly through blog land recently! She needed some help with her blog hop button and I had some free time. She is also a Cali girl so I had to help!

Needless to say I knew nothing about creating anklets! This is definitely a challenge for me. Since I know nothing about making anklets I did a little research first. I checked out etsy and pinterest to see if anything sparked inspiration. But, I was still procrastinating!

I pulled out some vintage copper chain with tiny little bubblegum colored beads. I took Kashmira's advise and used delicate chain. I think that advise is key! Delicate chain drapes the ankle perfectly.

I had this vintage copper chain that is very delicate and thought it would be perfect. First measure your chain around your ankle. Since there was about an inch gap I started looking for the perfect focal...

I pulled out the largest bead cap I had and flattened it out a bit. It's a 19mm antiqued copper bead cap with a pretty design. Since it's lightweight it was perfect for me. (I couldn't even feel this piece on my ankle...I'm sure I will be wearing it all summer long!)

Then I picked an opaque white 4mm Swarovski crystal. And using a brass ball end headpin created a messy wire wrapped loop.

 I attached the messy wire wrapped drop to one end of the vintage chain (gently opening the loop). This dangle part happened because I needed to make the chain a bit smaller to fit my ankle. And I didn't want to cut the vintage chain!

Using a small oval jump ring I attached the chain (the dangle side) to one of the holes in the bead cap. Then I attached a small clasp to the other side of the bead cap using another oval jump ring. That's it! It was so much fun to make I think I will have to make more! Now, I'm off to see what the other participants created.

Thank you Kashmira for hosting the hop! I can't wait for the next anklet hop you host!
